Hi, I’m Andrew Cruz, and I’m currently a school board member for the Chino Valley Unified School District. I’m seeking re-election because I’m passionate about continuing the work I’ve been dedicated to since 2012. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to provide effective leadership and ensure our district remains focused on the needs of our students & parents.
I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a B.A. in Psychology Social Sciences. My educational journey didn’t stop there—I also earned a Single Subject Credential in Biology, a Master’s Degree in Library Management Systems, and certification from the California School Boards Association Masters in Governance program.
My career in education began as a substitute teacher at South Central High School, and my experiences there were instrumental in my decision to pursue additional credentials. As a former special education student, I’ve gained a unique perspective on the challenges many students face, which influences my approach to school governance.
In addition to my professional work, I’m deeply committed to community service. I’ve been involved in various volunteer efforts, such as stuffing 300 backpacks with essential supplies for children in need and participating in the “Make a Child Smile” initiative, where I helped distribute gifts to children.
My family is very important to me. I have two children—my eldest graduated from Chino Valley Unified School District, and my younger child is currently enrolled in our district.
I’m dedicated to creating a supportive and enriching environment for both students and educators, and I hope to continue contributing to the success of our district.
